Vincent Romeo (Paul Vincent)

Vincent (Vince) Romeo, age 92, an actor, playwright, and author, known professionally as Paul Vincent, passed away on July 30, 2026.

Vince was an actor who appeared on Broadway and off-Broadway productions, regional theater and national tours, and in recurring roles on television and movies. Vince was also a playwright, with produced plays including Duse Died in Pittsburgh, and wrote and performed a one man show about his theatrical career, An Actor’s Life for Me. In his later years, Vince focused on writing books, including a memoir about growing up in a first-generation Italian American family, Behind the Store.

Vince was born in 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Vincenzo and Rose Romeo (née Pecora) with an older sister, Angela, and grew up among extended family. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be in theater and was in every high school production.

After high school, Vince served in the U. S. Army stationed in Stuttgart where, beyond his duties, he was in a theatrical troupe. Vince graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in drama and dramatics/theater arts and was a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha. Vince then moved to New York City where he trained privately with renowned acting coach Lee Strasberg.

In New York City, Vince first lived in a beloved flat in East Greenwich Village where he exercised his carpentry skills, then in Manhattan Plaza in Hell’s Kitchen for almost 40 years. Vince immersed himself in the vibrant and artistic community where he was always ready with a story from his immense knowledge of the theater or his own captivating experiences.

Beyond his theatrical and literary vocations, and through the years, Vince was an enthusiastic recreational biker, opera aficionado, piano student, and macrobiotic nutritionist all while connecting with people and making many friends with his charming and engaging character. Vince also loved Blue Hill, Maine, and spent countless summers there working and in the company of great friends.

Vince’s was a well-lived life. He will be missed.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and his nephew, Scott Murdoch. He is survived by his nieces, Moira Richards, Rani Murdoch Zappa, and Dana Romeo Murdoch, and their families. Vince’s family is grateful to the caring staff at the Actor’s Fund Home, who cared for Vince with compassion and skill during his time in memory care.
