Spiro Papadatos

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Spiro Papadatos from Asbury Park, New Jersey. He passed away peacefully on May 13th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 57 years old.

Born in New York City, to the parents of Michael and Maria Papadatos, Spiro was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle/godfather, partner, nephew, cousin, doctor and friend to many. He graduated from Fort Lee High School, Fordham University and UMDNJ. His passion was his work in dentistry and enthusiastically enjoyed taking care of his patients.

Spiro was a man of kindness, integrity, passion and love for his family and friends. Throughout his battle with cancer, his family was overwhelmed with the outpouring of love, support and prayers that he received from extended family, friends and patients. Spiro will always be remembered for great love that he carried for his mother, Maria, and became the patriarch of his family after the death of his father. He greatly enjoyed traveling to beautiful places, especially to Key West and Kefalonia, where his parents/grandparents originate from. His other passions include art, gardening, cars, and sending multiple emoji’s when texting.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Papadatos, brother Evangelos Papadatos, sister-in-law Jacqueline Papadatos, nephew/niece/godsons Michael, Angelica and Luke Papadatos, partner Randy Detrick, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Papadatos.

Spiro will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Frank Patti & Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home (327 Main St, Fort Lee, NJ 07024). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church (818 Valley Rd, Clifton, NJ 07013). A burial will be held on Friday, May 16th 2025 from 11:45AM to 12:00 PM at the George Washington Memorial Park (234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Spiro’s name to the American Cancer Society or your local Greek Orthodox Church.
