Sofia B Agredo

Sofia B. Agredo, 92, of Bogota, Colombia and Boston, Massachusetts, passed away after a brief illness on August 9th. Sofia was the beloved wife of Rafael Agredo for over 60 years. She was a devoted and loving mother to Robert, Rafael Jr., and Sandra. She adored and was adored by her grandchildren Sofia Raquel, Rafael Andres, Samantha, and Percy. Sofia was a beautiful, sweetest of sweet, and generous woman. She was also incredibly patient, resourceful, and hard working. She was a seamstress by training and enjoyed applying her creativity to all areas of her life. She ran her home with joy and cared for her family with tireless enthusiasm powered by love. Sofia was open and accepting to the faiths of others and respectful and accepting of all people. She was also a devoted Catholic who kept her faith quietly, praying and reading her prayer book and Bible and saying her rosary every day without fail. Sofia was a lifelong passionate Red Sox fan and suffered and rejoiced accordingly. She loved her city passionately and if anyone ever hinted at any criticism of her city she would simply tell them: “I love my Boston”. She loved knitting while watching her Red Sox games and left us a treasure trove of blankets. She loved children and animals. She loved reading, and especially enjoyed reading about health and medicine, cooking, and fiction. She took her time reading her collection of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. She loved and enjoyed all holidays but especially Christmas and all its decorations, traditions, trappings and music. After a full day of work and cooking and decorating it was her special private joy to sit quietly in front of her twinkling Christmas tree while listening to Ave Maria, Silent Night, and The Little Drummer Boy. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a love of naughty double entendres and silly word play in general. Sofia was a pure soul and also wonderful, fun company.  Mami, our hearts are so broken but we take comfort in knowing that you were unwavering in your faith in God and were always certain that he would receive you into his heavenly fold and take care of you when your day came. About this you never worried. We love and treasure you forever.
