Satoshi Koike, age 82, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025.
Born on March 25, 1943, in Nagoya, Japan, Satoshi was the youngest son of the late Sota and Hanako Koike. After graduating from Aichi University, Satoshi set out to see the world. In the early 1970s, he journeyed from Japan to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he began working at a local restaurant called Sip n Steaks. There, he met Theresa King and together they welcomed their daughter, Kiyomi, whom he cherished deeply.
Satoshi spent much of his life in the restaurant business, a career that allowed him to share his love of food and people. He was especially fond of all things Italian: traveling to Italy, savoring Italian cuisine, and watching the Rocky “The Italian Stallion.” films. He especially enjoyed going to the movies and exploring Philadelphia’s Italian restaurants with his granddaughters, creating memories they will treasure forever.
Satoshi is survived by his beloved daughter, Kiyomi Soriano (née King); his son-in-law, Miguel Soriano; and his granddaughters, Yukiko Soriano and Esmeralda Soriano, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He now joins his loving parents, Sota and Hanako Koike, and his dear siblings, Yukako Sugimoto and Mikio Koike, who preceded him in death.
A celebration of Satoshi’s life will be held at 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday, October 24, at Frank Patti & Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
