Martin "Marty" Donaldson

Marty lived his life with honor, dignity, respect and a strong moral compass. These traits
were evident at the early age of 12 when he became the man of the house after his father passed away. He supported his Mom and sister MaryEllen by working two jobs throughout his teenage years. He graduated from Valley Stream South High School where he made life long friends and met the love of his life Fran at age 17, At age 18 he began working at Pershing where his Mother and Father worked and fell in love. Working hard was Marty’s mantra and he did so for 46 years at Pershing, climbing his way up the ladder. The people he learned from, mentored and worked side by side with became his second family. It wasn’t all work and no play. Those who knew him well and participated in the practical jokes can smile and keep those memories in their hearts.

Life became sweeter for Marty when after dating Fran for 7 years they got married and started their 53 year journey together. They were blessed with two amazing children,Rebecca and Robert. He loved them deeply and was so incredibly proud of who they were as children and who they grew up to be today. He was lucky enough to have his daughter find the love of her life, Brian, the most incredible husband and father any parent could hope for. Recently Marty was happy to know Rob’s girlfriend Allison has become an important part of his life and future.

When Marty thought his life couldn’t be more blessed, he proudly earned the title of Pop-pop to his two precious, beautiful granddaughters Sophie and Abigail. Surprisingly to everyone and himself he even found a friend in Minnie, the four-legged, furry kind.

Marty lived a good and admired life and we will all miss him terribly.
