Joan M. Foley

Joan Foley, 71, passed away on August 16, 2026, at The Jewish Home in Rockleigh, New Jersey, which had been her loving home for the last 15 years. Joan was born in the Bronx, NYC, raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, and lived in various places throughout her life including England and Pennsylvania. Joan is predeceased by her parents Peg and Gene Foley, and her sister Rita Foley.

Joan was the second oldest of six sisters in a large, vibrant Irish family. She deeply cherished her relationships with her sisters and their families: Ellen Healy and her husband Jim, Anne Fenton and her husband Randy, Patrice Hunkin and her husband Mick, Lorraine Foley and her husband John. Joan was a proud and loving aunt to Anne Pollak and her husband Rob, Katherine Carr and her husband Ben, Marianne Hunkin and her partner Julian Barlow, Ben Hunkin and his partner Angela Han, and Kevin Craig. Joan also held immense affection for her great-nephews Owen Pollak, Will Pollak, Charlie Carr, and her great-niece Zoey Anne Carr. Joan also leaves behind a community of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory forever.

Joan’s room at the Jewish Home beautifully told the story of her joyful spirit. It was filled with hundreds of photos of family, friends, and good-looking famous men. She had cast photographs from her favorite TV shows from the 70s, including M*A*S*H, Star Trek, I Love Lucy, and her favorite vampire of all time, Barnabas Collins from Dark Shadows. She had a deep love for music, especially the tunes of Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdinck. A woman of delightful style, she kept a large drawer filled with socks for every holiday and occasion. She always took a keen interest in what everyone was driving and loved her view of the parking lot, where she could happily watch the comings and goings of all visitors. Joan also loved spending time and sharing laughs with her best friend and partner-in- crime, Peggy.

Joan’s family is profoundly grateful to the Jewish Home for the loving care they provided her over the last 15 years. They would also like to extend a special thank you to VNA Englewood Hospice, for their compassionate support over the last six months.
