Obituary

Irma Benzer, née Mezadurian, passed away on April 6, 2026 at age 84. Her remarkable journey from her birthplace in Istanbul to building a successful life in the United States was marked by determination, resilience, and love. Alongside her late husband, Manuel, she co-founded Bianca Silverware & Crystal in 1967 and later Bianca Jewelers. These establishments stood as shining testaments to her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence.

Irma was a woman who cherished family above all else. She always wanted the best for her loved ones and stood firmly by them through every trial. Known for her wisdom and kind heart, she often offered sound advice, becoming a beloved pillar of support to her children and grandchildren. The well-being of her family was the most important thing in her life, a value she nurtured with unwavering dedication.

Her vibrant personality shone in every aspect of her life. Irma delighted in entertaining guests, organizing events, and enjoying lively games of cards with her friends. She had a zest for travel, especially to beach resorts and casinos where she could relax and create lasting memories. These moments reflected her joyful spirit and love of connection.

Irma's surviving family includes her devoted sons Sarven and Alan, daughters-in-law Armine and Irma, and her cherished grandchildren Alec, Andre, and Kalista, as well as Rachel, Alec’s fiancée, and Madeline, Andre’s girlfriend. Their lives were deeply enriched by her unwavering love and guidance.

She is now reunited with her husband Manuel; her parents, Avedis and Manusak; and her brothers Herman and Hagop, whose memories she carried with her always.

Family and friends are invited to honor Irma’s life and memory with a visitation at the Frank Patti & Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, located at 327 Main St, Fort Lee, NJ, on April 12, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on April 13, 2026, at St. Leon's Armenian Church, 12-61 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Brookside Cemetery, 425 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ, at 12:30 PM.

Irma’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, hard work, and joy. She leaves behind a legacy etched in the hearts of all who knew her—a mother, grandmother, friend, and visionary who believed deeply in the power of family and the pursuit of a meaningful life. Her spirit remains an enduring light, forever shining brightly in the lives she touched.
