Grace Hi Kyung Lee, née Chang, age 80, of Fort Lee, NJ, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on April 30th, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, she dedicated her early life to education as a teacher. She later immigrated to the United States in 1969 with her husband, Eui Yong Lee, and together they built a new life in a new country and raised their two sons, Dennis and Jason. Through every season, she carried herself with quiet strength, deep devotion, and tireless generosity.
A two-time breast cancer survivor, Grace lived with extraordinary resilience and gratitude. She served in the office at Bethany Church of New Jersey, where she also volunteered joyfully in countless ways—from preparing meals and organizing events to her greatest passion: Evangelism Explosion outreach. Her faith guided her every step, and she was lovingly known as the prayer warrior of the family.
She is survived by her husband, Yong, her sons, Dennis (Heena) and Jason (Alicia), her brother, Yoohun (Boyoung), and five grandchildren Alexander, Justin, Noah, Lucy, and Grace, as well as many extended family members and friends who will dearly miss her gentle spirit and steadfast love. She is preceded in death by her sister, Sook Kyung “Sue”, and her brothers, Hae Kyun and Gi Kyun.
A memorial service will be held at the Bethany Church in Wayne, NJ, on Saturday, May 10th at 10:00 a.m., where we will celebrate her life, her legacy of service, and her unshakable faith. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to Bethany Church of New Jersey. Please contact Alicia Lee at alicia.j.lee08@gmail.com, with the subject line: Donation in honor of Grace Lee
