Obituary

Filomena DiMeglio, who lived nearly 103 years filled with love, hard work, and resilience went to the Lord on March 6, 2026.

Filomena was born in Pennsylvania, but almost immediately moved to the island of Ischia in Italy where she spent her childhood years. Those early experiences shaped her strength, values, and deep understanding of sacrifice. At 12, she moved back to the United States with her family and grew up in New York City. This is where she would go on to build her life and raise her family before moving to New Jersey.

Filomena was the definition of beauty and brains. Gifted with a sharp mind, especially mathematics. Filomena possessed an intelligence that was matched only by her work ethic- never forgetting the hardships of her early years. She loved gardening, cooking, doing income tax returns, knitting, listening to Italian music, long car rides, traveling, but above all, she loved spending time with family.

Filomena was a true warrior — resilient, steady, and dignified through every season of life. In outliving so many she loved, she carried both the weight of loss and the grace of endurance. Today, we take comfort in imagining her reunited with those who went before her.

In the later years of her life, she was deeply appreciative of the friends and family who surrounded her with care and affection. Especially during this past difficult year, she felt the love of those who would call or visit.

A Memorial Mass will be held in the future
